Timothy "Tim" P. Minear is an American screenwriter and director. He has been nominated for two Emmy Awards (2013, 2014) for his role as an executive producer on American Horror Story.
He is co-running the FX anthology drama series, Feud, alongside Ryan Murphy.
Early Life[]
Minear was born on October 29, 1963 in New York City. He later moved and grew up in Whittier, California, where he began creating super 8 movies in his backyard at the age of nine. He studied film at California State University, Long Beach.
Career[]
At just 23-years-old, Minear began working side-by-side with Oliver Stone as an (uncredited) assistant director on Platoon (1986), and later wrote episodes for several television series including The X-Files, Zorro, and Lois and Clark. His budding career consisted of mostly short-lived television series, including Firefly (2002-2003), Wonderfalls (2004), The Inside (2005), Dollhouse (2009-2010), and Terriers (2010). The most successful of his early shows was Angel (1999-2004), for which he wrote, directed, and executive produced several episodes.
Minear had another series, Drive, airing on Fox in April 2007. However, it was cancelled by the network after only four episodes. Drive was set to return with two additional episodes on July 4, 2007, but these were rescheduled to July 13 and then cancelled. This continued Minear's tradition of short-lived work.
In 2011, he began working for American Horror Story, joining the first season as a consulting producer and serving as an executive producer since Season 2. He has produced over 60 episodes and was nominated for two Emmy Awards for his work on the show. He is currently serving as executive producer for Ryan Murphy's drama anthology series, Feud.
